Paul Crawford Stancliff
Paul Crawford Stancliff, 77, died on January 19, 2021, with his loving wife, Cyndy, by his side. Born December 8, 1943, in Washington, DC, Paul grew up in Lanham, MD. He graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1961 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964. He did a tour in Vietnam in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1969. After serving in the Navy, Paul worked in hardware. He retired in 2006 after working as a self-employed courier. Paul was very active in helping his fellow veterans. He was a member of the U.S.S. Boston Shipmates, where he attended their annual reunion. Paul was a long time member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 227, where he served as president from 2000-2004. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion, Mercersburg, PA. Paul was an essential member of the Operation Freedom Bird family, a PTSD healing program based in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to his parents, C. Leonard Stancliff and Carolyn Talmage Stancliff, Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife Margarette Mae (Bailey) Stancliff and sister, Ellen Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Cyndy Hollender-Stancliff, sons Daniel L. Stancliff (Jennifer) and Keith A. Stancliff (Teresa), daughter Kathleen E. Bechtold, sister Carolyn M. Stuckey, brother-in-law Alvin Jones, grandchildren Robert Stancliff, Jonathon Bechtold, Margarette Bechtold, Hannah Stancliff and John Mathew Stancliff, and great-grandchildren Drew Fricia, Sophia Stancliff, Claire Stancliff, and Natalie Stancliff. Paul’s passion was volunteering at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 1982-2021. Paul met his soul mate and best friend, Cyndy, at the Memorial, both volunteers, in 1995. They were both widowed when they met and shared so many things in common. Paul and Cyndy were united in marriage, May 9, 1999, and shared an everlasting love for 21 ½ years.
