Spirit of Rob Bell Memorial Award
Rob never talked about Viet Nam, but we all were aware of the hard times he had when he returned home, now it would probably be diagnosed PTSD. I feel that how he dealt with his issues was exercising, first mountain biking, but later on running became his passion. He was an avid runner who was always aware of the successes of other runners. He passed away August 2000 during a workout with some members of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners. In his memory, an award was created which was meant to recognize someone whose enthusiasm for running embodies his spirit. That award, the "Spirit of Rob Bell Memorial Award" is still given every year.

Last Marathon
Rob loved to run. Running the Marine Corp Marathon held in Washington D.C. was a dream of his which he got to do the October before died. He had the heart of a warrior and was always proud of being a Marine. The war left its mark on him, as I think it did all who served in that war. God bless our soldiers.
