Brian Burke
Brian Dillon Burke
Brian Dillon Burke was born on May 11, 1948 in Weehawken, NJ. He was the third of nine children born to Audrey and Jack Burke. He was drafted and served in Vietnam from Jan '69 to Oct '69. Shortly after he returned he went to work for Benjamin Moore Paints as a sales representative: a job that would span his entire career. In 1972 he married Mary Beth Sexton and spent the next decades becoming the kind of quiet everyday hero we don't talk about enough. He went to work every day, helped raise two sons, coached youth baseball and basketball, and became a valued member of the community. He was known as an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast and he loved Mets baseball and college basketball especially the Syracuse Orangemen. He will be remembered for his quick wit and ceaseless generosity. Brian passed away on February 28, 2019 from cholangiocarcinoma caused by exposure to Agent Orange and river fluke. He loved his life and will be missed greatly by his wife, two sons John and Chris, as well as 3 brothers, 4 sisters, 13 brothers-and sisters-in-law, 12 nephews,11 nieces, and countless friends and neighbors.
