Biography

James Albertson was born November 18, 1947 in Ft Smith, Arkansas. With only a 9th grade education he left home and joined the Navy in 1965, completing three tours as a helmsman on the rivers of Vietnam and on a minesweeper. He met his soul mate in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in November 1983 and married Kathy Shelton in July 1986. He has four boys, eight grandchildren and one great-grand child. He retired from the Navy in 1990 with 26 years and followed Kathy as a dependent for the next six years. He managed the Navy Exchange Warehouse in Adak, AK, obtained his Gunsmith License and Locksmith credentials. He was able to fulfill a lifelong dream while in AK, grizzly bear hunting, an avid hunter and fisherman. He served as Service Officer with the American Legion, Jacksonville, FL. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, barbecuing, fish fry's and frequent visits to area casinos. James and Kathy bought a home and 40 acres in Oklahoma, he loved his home and as he aged did not stray too far from home. He passed away March 10, 2016 due to metastatic lung cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. James wanted to spend his last days at his home, WE DID IT HIS WAY. Forever in our hearts and ingrained in our memories.
