John Porth
John Michael Porth
John Porth was born on April 9, 1951 to Harold and Glada Porth of Athens, Tennessee. John grew up in Lewiston, Michigan and graduated from Johannesburg Lewiston High School in 1969. He volunteered for the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in both Vietnam and Germany. In Vietnam, John operated a roam plow clearing roads and airstrips. When he returned home, John joined the Michigan National Guard and was a founding member of the Lewiston VFW Post. John was diagnosed with lung cancer which was caused by exposure to Agent Orange. For ten years he fought the good fight but eventually died on June 17, 2016. In October 2015, John relocated to Athens, Tennessee enjoying the warmth of the South and family and the sweet hospitality of his hospice team until his death. John is survived by his mother, Glada Porth, one brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Donna; his sisters Julie Ormanian, Rosanne Miller and her husband David and Nancy Chrivia; nephews: Brandon Hehir, Robert Porth, Jeff and Chad Chrivia and four nieces: Megan Rossbach, Jessica Boiurn, Erin Russell and Tonya Chrivia.
