Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Oakland County- Chapter 133 (Pontiac, Michigan) memorial plaque dedicated to U.S. Army Private First Class (PFC) Robert Archibald Sikon. The plaque bears affixed VVA Chapter 133 business cards as well as a handwritten dedication reading, "32E LINE 66 / SIKON ROBERT A. / I WILL BE BACK / BOB GALLO". The artifact was left at Panel 32E of The Wall by Bob Gallo between October - November 1987.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA (VVA) MEMORIAL PLAQUE DEDICATED TO U.S. ARMY PRIVATE FIRST CLASS (PFC) ROBERT ARCHIBALD SIKON. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A MEMORIAL PLAQUE COMPRISED OF A TRIANGULARLY SHAPED, ROUGHLY CUT, WHITE POSTER BOARD BASE, TO THE PERIMETER EDGE OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF WHICH ARE AFFIXED (VIA SOME FORM OF CHEMICAL ADHESIVE) LENGTHS OF METAL WIRE WRAPPED IN YELLOW FABRIC YARN. ADDITIONAL LENGTHS OF WIRE WRAPPED IN BLUE AND RED FABRIC YARN ARE AFFIXED (ALSO VIA SOME FORM OF CHEMICAL ADHESIVE) TO THE CENTER OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF THE MEMORIAL PLAQUE SPELLING THE ACRONYM, "VVA" (VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA). BLUE VINYL ADHESIVE LETTERS ARE AFFIXED TO THE UPPER EDGE OF THE POSTER BOARD BASE WHICH SPELL THE PHRASE, "OAKLAND COUNTY", WHILE SIMILAR BLUE VINYL ADHESIVE ARABIC NUMERALS AFFIXED TO THE LOWER EDGE OF THE POSTER BOARD BASE DESIGNATE THE OAKLAND COUNTY VVA CHAPTER, "133". THE VVA CHAPTER STATE ABBREVIATION, "MI." IS HANDWRITTEN IN BLUE INK AND BLOCK SCRIPT IMMEDIATELY BELOW THESE AFFIXED VINYL NUMBERS. TWO (2) IDENTICAL BUSINESS CARDS PRINTED IN BLACK INK AND BLOCK SCRIPT/ARABIC NUMERALS UPON RECTANGULARLY SHAPED SEGMENTS OF WHITE, UNLINED CARDSTOCK ARE AFFIXED (VIA STRIPS OF CLEAR, ADHESIVE SCOTCH TAPE) TO THE UPPER, PROPER RIGHT- AND LEFT-HAND CORNERS OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE. THE PRINTED INSCRIPTIONS UPON THESE BUSINESS CARDS SPECIFY THE VVA CHAPTER RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING THE MEMORIAL PLAQUE, "VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA / OAKLAND COUNTY / CHAPTER 133", RELATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION'S REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE, "MEETINGS - 2ND SUNDAY @ 3:00 P.M. / 4TH WEDNESDAY @ 8:00 P.M.", AND PROVIDE THE ORGANIZATIONAL ADDRESS, "800 OAKLAND AVE. AN ADDITIONAL POW*MIA DECAL IS AFFIXED (ALSO VIA STRIPS OF CLEAR, ADHESIVE SCOTCH TAPE) TO THE CENTER OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF THE MEMORIAL PLAQUE.
