Non-military issue, commemorative service identification tag, also referred to as a, "dog tag", dedicated to U.S. Army Second Lieutenant (2LT) Gilbert Byron Bush. The military rank, branch of military service, name, date of birth, Department of Defense (DoD) casualty designation/date, & hometown of record, "2LT AR BUSH, / GILBERT B. / DOB 17 JAN 41 / KIA 08 MAY 66 / LARAMIE" are stamped upon the obverse surface of the tag. The artifact was left at The Wall along with four (4) other non-military issue, commemorative service identification tags (VIVE (5866 - 5868 & 5870)), a wooden Christian cross (VIVE (34838)), & a printed note (VIVE (35315)) by a donor identified only as, "WYOMING BROTHER" between January - April 1990.
NON-MILITARY ISSUE, COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE IDENTIFICATION TAG, ALSO REFERRED TO AS A, "DOG TAG", DEDICATED TO U.S. ARMY SECOND LIEUTENANT (2LT) GILBERT BYRON BUSH. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED, SILVER COLORED METAL DISK WITH ROUNDED CORNERS, A CRIMPED EDGE, AND ONE (1) HOLE PUNCHED AT THE CENTER OF THE PROPER RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE. THE MILITARY RANK, BRANCH OF MILITARY SERVICE, NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) CASUALTY DESIGNATION/DATE, & HOMETOWN OF RECORD, "2LT AR BUSH, / GILBERT B. / DOB 17 JAN 41 / KIA 08 MAY 66 / LARAMIE" ARE STAMPED INTO THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE IN RECESSED BLOCK SCRIPT/ARABIC NUMERALS. THE DOG TAG IS PRESENTLY AFFIXED TO A SHORT LOOP OF METAL BALL CHAIN STRUNG THROUGH THE HOLE PUNCHED AT THE CENTER OF THE PROPER RIGHT-HAND EDGE OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE, ALONG WITH ONE (1) OTHER ASSOCIATED NON-MILITARY ISSUE, COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE IDENTIFICATION TAG (VIVE (5870)) AND WHICH IS CONNECTED TO OTHER METAL BALL CHAINS BEARING THE REMAINING ASSOCIATED NON-MILITARY ISSUE, COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE IDENTIFICATION TAGS (VIVE (5866 - 5868)). THE OBJECT IS ASSOCIATED WITH VIVE (5866 - 5868, 5870, 34838, & 35315).
