ITEM SUMMARY

Five (5) Vietnam Veterans Memorial (VVM) name rubbings upon VVM Wall rubbing sheets for U.S. Marine Corps Private (PVT) Domingo Rodriguez, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps Private First Class (PFC) Richard Carrillo, U.S. Army Warrant Officer 1 (WO1) Alexander Cameron Brown, U.S. Air Force Colonel (Col) Kelly Francis Cook, & U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) John Frederick Barr, respectively. Each of the name rubbings bear handwritten inscriptions professing love and appreciation from family members, friends, and former comrades, including one from LCDR Barr's son Kevin which reads, " "Dear Dad" / I may not be back here to see your name for a long time, but you will alway's [sic] be in my mind and hart [sic] as long as I live. / Love / your son". The artifacts were left at The Wall by numerous donors between July - August 1992.

THE OBJECTS EACH CONSIST OF A RUBBED IMPRESSION OF ONE (1) OF THE FIVE (5) VVM WALL HONOREE NAMES REFERENCED ABOVE EXECUTED IN GRAPHITE PENCIL AND BLOCK SCRIPT UPON THE CENTER OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF A VVM WALL RUBBING SHEET. THE WALL RUBBING SHEETS EACH CONSIST OF A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED SHEET OF WHITE, UNLINED PAPER WITH A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED, BLACK PRINTED BORDER AND THE DATES OF AMERICAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE VIETNAM WAR, "1959" AND, "1975" PRINTED IN BLACK INK AND ARABIC NUMERALS WITH AN ACCOMPANYING QUOTATION FOR EACH PRINTED IN BLACK INK AND BLOCK SCRIPT/ARABIC NUMERALS AT THE UPPER, PROPER LEFT-HAND AND LOWER, PROPER RIGHT-HAND CORNERS OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACES, RESPECTIVELY. AN INSCRIPTION HANDWRITTEN IN GRAPHITE PENCIL AND BLOCK SCRIPT UPON THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF THE PVT RODRIGUEZ, JR.
