Sealed, unopened letter dedicated to U.S. Army First Lieutenant (1LT) and Nurse Sharon Ann Lane. A handwritten inscription upon the obverse surface of the letter envelope reads, "LT. Sharon Lane / AN USA". The artifact was left at The Wall by an anonymous donor on April 27, 1989.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

SEALED, UNOPENED LETTER DEDICATED TO U.S. ARMY FIRST LIEUTENANT (1LT) AND NURSE SHARON ANN LANE. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A LETTER HOUSED INSIDE A SEALED, UNOPENED, RECTANGULARLY SHAPED ENVELOPE COMPRISED OF PLAIN WHITE PAPER WITH A TRIANGULARLY SHAPED, ADHESIVE CLOSURE FLAP AT THE REVERSE OBJECT SURFACE. AN INSCRIPTION HANDWRITTEN IN BLACK INK AND CURSIVE/BLOCK SCRIPT AT THE CENTER OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF THE ENVELOPE READS, "LT. SHARON LANE / AN USA". ACCORDING TO VIVE CATALOG NOTES PREPARED BY MRCE COLLECTIONS STAFF, AN NPS RANGER'S TAG ORIGINALLY DISCOVERED WITH THE ARTIFACT SPECIFIES THE DATE OF DONATION AT THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL (VVM) AND READS, "4/27".
