Artifact assemblage dedicated to U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ray Edwin Codding and collectively comprising a military issue, U.S. Air Force khaki uniform, summer issue. Representations of the rank insignia for a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel O-5 ((Lt Col) silver oak leaf) as well as the U.S. Air Force Command Pilot Badge are embroidered upon the shirt collar tips and above the shirt left breast pocket, respectively. A handwritten note pinned to the interior collar surface of the shirt identifies the owner of the uniform shirt, "Ray Edwin Codding", his branch of service and rank/grade, "LTC - 05 - Air Force - Regular", his term and dates of military service, "Length of service 26 years / His tour began on Nov 6, 1967", his casualty date, "Oct 21, 1968", and his casualty location, "In DARLAC, SOUTH VIETNAM". The artifact was left at The Wall by an anonymous donor between October 2010 - March 2011.

ASSEMBLAGE DEDICATED TO U.S. AIR FORCE LIEUTENANT COLONEL (LT COL) RAY EDWIN CODDING AND CONSISTING OF: COMPONENT (A) MILITARY ISSUE, U.S. AIR FORCE KHAKI UNIFORM SHIRT AND COMPONENT (B) MILITARY ISSUE, U.S. AIR FORCE KHAKI UNIFORM PANTS. COMPONENT (A) MILITARY ISSUE, U.S. AIR FORCE KHAKI UNIFORM SHIRT, SHORT SLEEVE, SUMMER ISSUE. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF COTTON KHAKI FABRIC, FIVE (5) BUTTON CLOSURE FRONT, TWO (2) BREAST POCKETS AT THE PROPER LEFT- AND RIGHT-HAND SIDES WITH SINGLE BUTTON FLAP CLOSURES, AND A COLLARED NECKLINE WITH WIDE LAPEL. EMBROIDERED IN WHITE THREAD UPON THE COLLAR LAPEL AT BOTH THE PROPER LEFT- AND RIGHT-HAND SIDES OF THE SHIRT IS A REPRESENTATION OF THE RANK INSIGNIA FOR A U.S. AIR FORCE LIEUTENANT COLONEL O-5 (LT COL), A SINGLE OAK LEAF. ALSO EMBROIDERED IN WHITE THREAD ABOVE THE OBJECT LEFT BREAST POCKET IS A REPRESENTATION OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE U.S. AIR FORCE COMMAND PILOT BADGE (I.E. A SHIELD WITH ITS FIELD SCORED WITH HORIZONTAL LINES AND BEARING THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE UNITED STATES ON AND OVER A PAIR OF DISPLAYED WINGS, WITH A STAR SURROUNDED BY A LAUREL WREATH ADDED ABOVE THE SHIELD TO INDICATE THE DEGREE OF MASTER AVIATION BADGE). IDENTICAL TO THAT OBSERVED UPON COMPONENT (A), A HANDWRITTEN INSCRIPTION IN BLACK INK ALONG THE INTERIOR SURFACE OF THE PANT WAISTBAND READS, "M-CODXX". THE PANTS ARE VERY STIFF AND APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN STARCHED AND PRESSED PRIOR TO DONATION AT THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL (VVM).
