1964
The last time I saw Sgt Collins was 1964 when 9th Car Company 18th Abrn Corp was packing up for Nam. However I did get a couple of letters from him but thought I understood why he stopped writing. Years later while in Fayetteville, I called his home and his son in law answered. I called his name and the young man informed me he was not Sgt. Collins. The young man inform me Sgt. Collins died in Nam and ask if I wanted to speak with Mrs Collins so she could tell me what happened to him. I could not stand to hear, so I declined. RIP Sarge. Not many of us left. Sarge had a Carmangier Volkswagen when he first came to 9th car from the 82 Airplane Div. and he later bought a Spider Corvier. That was his name for the 82 second. Always had a name for everything.

honoring you...
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.
