Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Michael Howard Collins, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Running to Honor

Michael you were K.I.A. 7 years before I was even born. I shared the same honor as you of serving our nation in our Marine Corps uniform. So we share that brotherhood. I learned your name last week and ran last weekend in your honor. I ate meals with and listened to stories of Marines that you had served with in Vietnam. The 3/5 Marines gather every year to honor their fallen. you fell on 5/26/1967. You are remembered for your sacrifice. This Memorial Day weekend and on many many more runs, I will honor your memory. Semper Fidelis Marine!
