Love Always
My beloved Jimmy, I don't have to close my eyes to recall that day so very long ago when I, a quiet and shy 4th grader, stood across the hallway across from you. I turned to my left to find you smiling at me. I still recall the "lightning strike" - that bolt of electricity - that passed between us when our eyes met. I remember how you would always wink at me whenever we met. I remember watching you playing football, sitting in choir class, serving as an altar boy, walking down the street to my home.
I was so sure that we would marry, have our 12 kids, and spend the rest of our lives together in that big house in the country. Instead, I have spent the last 48 years of my life devoted to studying and teaching other "Jimmys" about what took your life - guerrilla warfare. Although I could not save your life, I have striven to help other American troops live by knowing the strategies and tactics of guerrilla warfare.
Jimmy, I have kept my promise to you that I would never marry another. I've been proposed to by a couple of other men, but I had to refuse - they just were not YOU. You've had my love since 1959, and my love will always be yours. I know that when I leave this life, you will be waiting for me in Heaven. It is a reunion I long for.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT James Francis Coleman, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

We will always remember James Francis Coleman
My name is Brooke Porzelius and I go to Gridley High School of Gridley, IL and my U.S. History class is posting remembrances for the many men that don’t have remembrances up on the Virtual Wall. I think that every man that made the ultimate sacrifice for his country needs to be recognized for all that he did. So I thank James Francis Coleman for serving his country in the best way that he knew how.
Thank you,
Brooke Porzelius
