A LRRP Teammate

Bill Cohn was my teammate on LRP Team Wildcat 2, Co.F/52nd Inf(LRP), 1st Infantry Division, from
Feb-July 1968. He was a great guy always, and a really great guy to be with in the bush. He was an
excellent, skilled soldier, and fearless in a fight. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions in
a battle of June 18, 1968, and deservedly so. I DEROSed on July 17, 1968 and corresponded with
him from my final post at Ft. Hood, TX. I was incredibly broken when I received a letter back from
the Army in late 1968 advising me that Bill and anothe buddy, Steven Sorick, had been killed on
21 Oct. 68, on a mission near Cambodia when their extraction ship had been shot down trying to leave the LZ under
fire. I know that even in this last battle Bill and Steve had distinguished themselves once again.
I will always miss him, and the world has missed him all these many years since then. God watch over
him.

A Note of Appreciation

On May 15,2002 I took a field trip with my class to Navy Pier,Chicago to veiw the traveling wall. I have the same last name as William Cohn, so I thought it might be interesting to see if we could be related because I thought it might be kind of nice to have had a relative that was so brave. I figured out we're not related, but it is still nice to learn some facts about such a heroic person. Thanks so much to him for risking his life to save others.
