Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Charles Eugene Coffman, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Charles Eugene Coffman

I have never heard your name before but I feel everyone here needs some acknowledgement of their ultimate sacrifice for our country. You died much too young. You most likely were just out of school. You had a life that deserved many more years. You left behind people who loved you and who, I imagine still feel
the pain of your loss to this day. I hope they have comfort in knowing you are at rest and that they will someday see you again in a much better place.

Your courage and efforts in Viet Nam will never be forgotten in my heart and in a multitude of others who have the utmost respect and honor for the soldiers who lost their lives there.

In peace always
