THANK YOU

Dear Theodore Coaxum,
I hope your photo is put here because this wall of faces needs yours. Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. December is here, along with all the preparations. It is almost Christmas. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of SGT Theodore Coaxum

On February 22, 1968, A Company, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, was conducting a search and destroy mission out of Di An in and around Phu Loi, Thuc Duc and Lai Thieu in Binh Duong Province, RVN. During the operation, A Company made contact with the enemy on several occasions. Near Di An, the company became engaged in a firefight with Viet Cong insurgents which resulted in five members of A Company being killed and three others wounded. Twelve Viet Cong were killed in the encounter. The lost Americans included CPT Loyd M. Wilson, 1LT Edward L. Worthington, 2LT David J. Cavis, SGT Theodore Coaxum, and SP4 Kendall H. Clark.
