Remembering A Smyrna High School Athlete
Bob Powell
724 Hickman Drive
Millville, DE 19970
Bruce Clough was 4 years older than me, and we both grew up in the Smyrna, DE area. Since I had a brother who was a little bit older than Bruce, I had the opportunity to watch both Bruce and my brother play baseball. My memories about Bruce as a baseball player are ones of a lefthanded batter who was pretty good. As a person, Bruce seemed to be a pretty happy-go-lucky guy who seemed to enjoy a good laugh and got
along with everyone. I was entering my sophomore year in high school when Bruce was killed. I can still remember an assembly we had that year in which a band made up of students at Smyrna High School sang a song in memory of Bruce. Bruce's memory still lives today with those of us who knew him.
