Angel Day

I cannot thank you enough for your service to our country and for the ultimate sacrifice you made of your life. Your service and sacrifice were not in vain; you and your fellow brothers-in-arms who lost their lives in Vietnam War have been and will be a source of good for generations to come. Rest well SGT Clem.

On this your Angel Day I leave this beautiful Eskimo fable:

“Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

My ammo man and buddy

Clem and I served together January 67' in Bravo Co. After about 4 months i went to delta co I think Thomas did also. We were a machine gun team our first few months, then the machine gun beat me up enough then Thomas took it. We had alot of good times together along with alot of scary times together, I knew there was someone very special at home waiting for him, because he was such a loyal man. I think the rest of us were dogs, but not Clem. Sometimes when we were both nervous and I needed a question answered I tell him sing me the answer, cause he stuttered when he was nervous. So ontop of being nervous now he'd be angry too!
He covered my back for 10 months, I really wish I could have been there to cover his. I have a picture of us together with Jim Boatman and its one of my treasured possesions!
If you ever look at the picture "Reflections of the Wall" the soldier to the left is my Buddy Clem!
