Remembering for family

You were my father’s cousin. In 1970 I was only 6 and remember hearing about your death. It was your passing that brought the war home for us. Dad explained, and I remember feeling that it was not fair for you to have to have died. Thru the years since then, I am reminded often to be thankful if the sacrifice of men like you, who fought for the freedom of the rest of us in our nation.
Thank you.

Thanks

Dear SSgt Robert Choquette,
Thank you for your service as a Combat Engineer. Happy Thanksgiving. This is the month that we remember all those who have passed-on. We remember you. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Respect

SSgt Choquette was one of my instructors at Engineer School at Camp LeJeune in late 1969 and early 1970 and I was his Platoon Commander in Viet Nam in 1970. He was a fine Marine and his death was a great loss to all of us. I remember him fondly for his love of life and gung-ho, thoughtful and positive approach to our work.
