Angel Day

On this your angel day I wanted to express my gratitude to you for your service to our country and for the greatest sacrifice any man can make – your precious life.

Many have said that the Vietnam War was a pointless war and that the loss of your life was in useless, but I do not feel that this is true. Your service and sacrifice have not been in vain, but has been a source of healing and hope. This is signified in all the messages left by the youth of our nation on this sacred site. I read their comments and know that you are not forgotten by them and that you and your brothers-in-arms will be an influence for good for generations to come.

I will always remember you and the others on The Wall. I will do my utmost best to never to forget you and to do all that I can do to keep your memory alive. Even if it is just to leave a message here on your remembrance page on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial site. This is my promise to you and the others.

Rest well now and know that you are always remembered by this humble American Girl.

I'll Never Forget

When I was 5 yrs old, I lived 1 block from John's mom's house in Cushing, Tx. I would go over and play army with John's little brother. I remember a day when John's fiance and mom were in the yard swing crying, I believe he had just left home. Later, I remember going to his funeral, the grave yard, the 21 gun salute, and picking up spent brass from the rifles after. I'll never forget. May God Bless the Caver Family.

Thank You

Dear soldier, my name is Zach Nicolay and I’m leaving this remembrance as an assignment for my sophomore World History class in Gridley, Illinois. But I promise that this means so much more than any assignment ever will. There is no greater way for one to express one's gratitude for their country than to pay the ultimate sacrifice. I thank you for that, and I am forever in debt to you.

You are not forgotten

I was told that you were a great man. A man to be proud of. Some of the family talk about you with great fondness.
I, unfortunately, never knew you, but your legacy lives on. Thank you, and you will never be forgotten. We love you.
