Cavarocchi entered the Army in June 1966 and was sent to Vietnam that December, a month alter he was married. The private first class, a grenadier, was assigned to Company B of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). He was killed on May 13, 1967, at the age of 20. Survivors included his wife.
