Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT William Earl Cate, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

my inspiration

Uncle Bill, I have never met you. My father Gerald (Jerry) Laughlin is your cousin and grew up with you and Pete. He brought you home from Vietnam. My entire life i grew up seeing your flag and your pictures and hearing stories of what a wonderful person you were. You and you alone are the reason i joines the USMC myself and i thought of you all the time while i was in the corps. Pete and Judy and there boys asked me to take your flag home with me on a recent visit to them. I proudly display your flag and awards in my home and pass on your legacy to anyone who asks. I hope you and my father are up there smiling down on all of us and having a few beers together. You will live forever in all of our hearts. Semper Fi!!

A nephew you never met

My Parents, your brother Frank, gave me the family bible recently. I was reading the material about your memorial and wish I had the chance to meet you. I am posting this here mostly for your brothers in arms who may read this so they may know that at least one generation down remembers all of your sacrifices.
