Final Mission of U.S. Army helicopter UH-1B tail number 64-13951

Crew included 1LT David L. Siverly (KIA), WO1 Larry F. Castle (KIA), SSG Carroll L. Rodgers (KIA), and PFC Merced H. Gonzales (KIA). Pilot radioed to wingman that he was going in. Aircraft appeared to be in normal auto at termination when it turned right & appeared to hit tree or ground with great force & exploded. Wingman landed but had to depart due to ground fire. Deceased crewmen were extracted the next day. Aircraft was consumed by fire. [Taken from vhpa.org]
