honoring you...
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

I was there.
You'll never know, Robert, the impact your death has had on my life, and we didn't even know each other. No easy way to say it: I was the Marine that pulled you from your fighting hole the morning of June 12, 1968. The image is burned into my mind and soul. Thanking you for your sacrifice means so much more to those of us whose lives you helped save that night, and that certainly means mine as well. I think of you often, Sir, with much reverence and with much respect. Rest In Peace, Brother - Semper Fi, Marine.

Remember you still
We worked at Sylvania the summer of '66, evening shift. You were such a nice young man. I still remember saying goodbye to you in the parking lot on our last working day, and now special you were. I think of you often.
