THE WALL OF FACES

For the Aircraft Commander of General Casey’s slick was Bill Michel, a friend of mine. Bill and I had shared R&R in Sydney 6 months earlier. He had just received his direct commission from W-0 to 1LT and was excited to be the General’s pilot. He assured me that even though General Casey had gotten his pilot’s wings, he would be the Peter Pilot and Bill the AC. I had less than 20 days and a wake up when this happened. The “Friends of Rocky Versace” remember one of Rocky’s fellow alumni from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, MG George William Casey, on what would’ve been his 95th birthday - 9 March 2017.

I remeber your dad coming to school for dinner. How handsome her was in his uniform. You were so happy and proud of him.

MG George W. Casey was an alumnus of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. He was one of 334 men from West Point who died or are MIA in Southeast Asia during the period October, 1957 – September, 1972.
