Thanks
Dear PFC Robert Carter,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Robert Jerome Carter, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

PFC Robert Jerome Carter, USMC
Jerome and I were next door neighbors and great friends for 12 years. He joined the Marine Corps immediately after finishing Lucy Addison High School in June 1968. He completed boot camp and AIT and was home for the month of October 1968. We had a great time hanging out. He arrived in RSV in January 1969 and was killed (by accident in what is now known as "friendly fire") by USMC field artillery on April 19, 1969. He had turned 19 on April 11, 1969. I have kept his photo of him in his USMC "dress blues" for the past 45 years and welcome the opportunity to donate to this worthy cause.
Jerome was a great friend and person and his friends have kept his memory alive in our thoughts and conversations since his death.
