I have many fond memories of Butchie while celebrating holidays at my grandma's house in Gary, IN. It was shortly after her death, in July 1971 that he was listed as MIA. His home of record is EAST CHICAGO, IN not TEXAS!!!

Silver Star Medal Award
Major Donald Gene Carr was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as Special Forces Qualified Infantry Unit Commander and was assigned to MLT 3, TF-1 AE, MACV-SOG, 5TH SF GROUP.
