A Eucharistic Life!
This evening at mass during the Homily I heard of Fr. Vincent Capodanno's ultimate sacrifice as he gave his life wholeheartedly to the suffering and dying Marines all around him. The fact that Fr. Capodanno's life was a Eucharistic one in that he suffered, sacrificed and loved those around him as he emptied himself out even unto death. To readily put himself in harm’s way to aid all those who were suffering. And in spite of being wounded twice himself, Fr. Capodanno refused to be evacuated. He held up his lifeless right arm with the other arm to administer the Last Rites of the Catholic Church to the dying. The face of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, was shining through Fr. Capodanno.
Finally, when an injured soldier who had been struck by a machine gun, Fr. Capodono stepped in front of the machine to aid the solider and, Fr. Capodono was mortally wounded. Where does such love come from if not from our Almighty God.
This tribute is 51 yrs late but Thank You so very much for giving your all to save others.
May you be with Him in Paradise.
