Why did GOD send you - instead of me? Thank you for your willingness to go. I owe you my life.
I was the radio operater that day, instead of the medic that, in basic, I had volunteered to have become. The Army, in basic had begged me to go into electronics, I refused, they made me a rifleman. I was asigned to the radio just a short time before this day. Brian Cannada lost his life as a medic, while trying to save my BEST BUDDY'S life - Sgt. James Lee Clark. Brian died on top of Jim - trying to protect Jim. Brian's name is placed on top of James on the wall - as they had died. The whole story is even more amazing - God was in that place. I don't yet know why, but some day I'll know why Brian Cannada died instead of Brian Gibson.

You lost your life while trying to save my brother's life. You died together that day. Thank you, Brian, for being there with Jim. I will never forget you.
Thanks to Jim's best buddy, Brian Gibson, I now know the whole story.
