I was with you that day

I was 3 feet from you when we were hit by the shrapnel that eventually took your life. It was January 31'1968, the Tet offensive just started. We were Medivaced to Phu Bai and put on the hospital ship USS Repose. You died from your wounds 5 days later. You had only been in country 6 weeks or so.
I recovered and was sent back to finish my tour.
I think of you often.

Not Forgotten From Fabens, TX

To the parents and siblings of Raul, I would like to say thank you for the ultimate sacrifice that Raul and his family have paid. Raul and I attended Fabens High where I use to see him in the halls, and although I personally never met him I felt a great. loss. As a military Mom a feel connected to all the young men and women who did not return home. I recently visited The Viet Nam Wall and I assure you that Raul is not forgotten! God Bless You Raul, and I know that you are with the Lord and his angels. Candelaria family may God Bless You
