I served in your platoon in Officer Candidate School. You always led by example. You were tough but fair and I respected you immensely. You were killed the day my first son was born.

You were one of the brave that answered the call. You honored us by your service and sacrifice. We now honor you each time we stand and sing the words “THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE”. Rest in Peace and Honor Donald.

Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Commander. You were born on my grandfather's birthday. Say hi to him in heaven, his name is Benny. As another summer comes to an end, it is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call.
