THE WALL OF FACES

Mike was probably the most gentle person I have ever known. I never saw him again after we graduated from high school together in 1966. He went to the University of Washington for a year. Then joined the Marine Corps in late 1967. And then he was off to Vietnam. He was an only child and his parents are gone now as well. I'll never forget you, my friend. Nor the many pleasant conversations we enjoyed together.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.
