THE WALL OF FACES

CPT Byrd, You are remembered. Pilot of O-1G 51-5059 on that ill-fated flight.

Every Veteran's Day, I remember to be grateful for those who gave all.

I wore Capt. Byrd's bracelet for 44 years until it was lost in an accident, but I will never forget his sacrifice.

My family and Mac's lived on Lorraine Court in Berea, Kentucky. He and his sister Nita babysat for us a lot, we road together to school, my parents gave a party for him and his friends once on our carport, he teased us mercilessly - like a big brother. Our family was devastated when he was lost. My favorite mental picture of him is in his white prom jacket! Mac is remembered fondly by me.

Although I never knew him or anything about him, his name went with me for several years in the 1970's. Now I know more. My sister messaged me yesterday (1-9, the actual date Capt. Byrd went missing), asking if I still had the bracelet. Photo attached.

Thank you for your service as a Fixed Wing Aviation Unit Commander (Pilot.) You are still MIA.
Please come home.
As we celebrate Labor Day, and enjoy our freedom, it is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Be at peace with the angels.
