Ground Casualty
SGT Luther W. Burton was an infantryman serving with C Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. The 2/7 participated in the Battle of Ia Drang Valley during November 14-19, 1965, the first major engagement between the U.S. Army and the North Vietnamese Army; however, Burton became ill two weeks before the campaign began and was admitted to a military hospital on October 31st.
