REMEMBRANCES
Remembering An American Hero
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
Brave to the Grave
43 Years Later
Lance Corporal James Carl Burks 030369
To this day, he is still loved and missed by his mother and 6 siblings.
I am the neice of this brave Marine. I am thankful to Ssgt Ben Drake USMC for awakening a much needed quest in my life. It is a very unique way this urgency came about. My mother Laura Burks Hicks passed on 02202012, and I added her to my father's web page who is also deceased. Some way thousands of miles away, I was contacted by another source that some of my Uncle's fellow Officers were looking for any surviving relatives of the deceased for over 43 years. Through tireless efforts, a connection was made from from New York to Virginia to Jackson, MS. My Uncle is resting peacefully beside his grandmother, father, and my mother in our family's cemetary on Morrison's Rd in Learned, MS. This is about 5-10 minutes away from Raymond, MS and about 25 miles away from Jackson, MS. Please feel free to see a picture of Lance Corporal James Carl Burks on: www.memorialwebsites.legacy.com press go, then scroll down on the same page to James and Laura Burks Hicks. Look under photos. Feel free to call me at 601-331-0331 anytime of day or night. I work on the 11pm-7am shift, so midnight calls are welcomed. Email me also at [email protected] I might be slower responding to emails, but I will get to each of them ASAP.
