To Billy

You were born a year and six days after my father and passed one day short of four years before my birth. We are not related, as my family is from Oklahoma, but share the same name. My father was Air Force during Nam, and I enlisted for Desert Storm to become the third of four generations of my family to serve. You had your whole life ahead of you and I will think of that each time I look at your name on the bracelet I wear. I wish I knew you when I visited the wall on the way to middle east, I would have taken a rubbing. I pray that you are looking down on your family and brothers in arms and protecting them.

Dearest Billy

Every time I come here or think of you it still is a deep hurt that will never leave me. It seems like only yesterday. I got up and looked at the Norwich Bulletin and there you were on the front page. I called our mutual friend and we cried for hours on the phone. I did not have a car then but I walked eight miles to Danielson to your wake and 8 miles back in the dark so lost and alone. The sadness will never leave me. I pray that one day I will see you in heaven. You were such a wonderful and beautiful young man! I will always love you!
