Remembering!
Jimmy Buchy and I were neighbors, only a couple months apart in age. The things I remember most about Jimmy were he always had a big smile on his face, he was good to the children and overall he was a good person, the type you were proud to be around.
Jimmy was my first exposure to the real tragedies of the Vietnam war. It taught me how easily you could lose someone you respected, loved or cared about. I didn't go to Vietnam until three years after his death, but I thought about him then and as I do now remembering how proud he was to serve and do his country's bidding in Vietnam. I've often felt how strange it is that God wants some of us with him much sooner than others. Though God has been so very good to me, I know Jimmy is much better off than I am. Thank God for people like Jimmy Buchy.
