Brothers

Bill and I meet in reception and formed a strong relationship. We went to basic then AIT then NCO School, graduating as Sgt E-5 then went on to our training positions at Fort Polk. We received orders to Nam at the same time. During that time we had many good times and I was treated to a friendship with a great guy. We enjoyed many laughs and I have all good memories of a time well spent with a man I a grew to love. He is remembered with those memories and emotions. To a friend, fellow soldier and brother, rest in peace.

The Cousin I Always Admired

Even though I was only three years old at the time you were tragically taken, I have many fond meomories of you. I remember playing in your bedroom when I woud go to visit Grandma Bertha's house. I also remember singing the pop song, " Billy Don't be a Hero" by Paper Lace at family get togethers. A song that will forever remind me of you. It's hard to believe it has already been 50 years since your passing. On Friday, I had a discussion about Memorial Day with my class. I shared your picture and story with my students. Your framed picture sits on my desk in my virtual classroom(due to Covid 19) to honor your memory this Memorial Day weekend. Tonight I went to decorated your grave with my daughters. It saddened me to think that you were my daughter's age at the time of your death.
Thank you my cousin for giving your life to serve our country....you will always be remembered and you will always be my HERO , Billy!
Until we meet again!

Love ,
Your Baby Cousin, Kristin
(Daughter of Richard WIlliam Alfredson)
