If I should die...remembrances for SP5 Roger Louis BROWN, USA...Costa Mesa's bravest hero, who died so that freedom and justice may live!!!!!!!!!!!....HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile....Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Some still remember

I grew up with the Brown family in Costa Mesa, Ca. I returned from Vietnam 17 days before Roger was KIA. Being in the infantry in the Marines, I knew about death of fellow service men. His death, & those of others from the neighborhood are harder to bear as I get older. On Memorial Day I place American flags on his & five other KIA's graves. I even spoke with his mother after an article in the local "Register" news paper last year which outlined my personal "flag raisings" to men who will be young for eternity. I don't need a wall to remember the ones who died doing what they had to do. Jim
