45 Years Later

I never got to meet my uncle but my dad talks about him all the time and how proud he is of him even to this day after all this time. My dad was still young when his brother passed away and remembers him still but I wish I could find out more about my uncle and how he was during this time. For now I will remember him as my dads hero and a brave solder who risked his life for his country.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Benigno Zamudio Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Remembrance

Ben, as he was known, was a generous, caring and loving individual. He loved his family consisting of his mother and eight sisters and three brothers. He looked forward to ending his second tour and coming back to the States to continue his education and build a life outside the military. He returned for a second tour feeling that he needed to be with his friends and continue to serve his country. He will forever be loved and remembered by his family.
