Ground Casualty

SP5 William V. Young was a Medical NCO serving with Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment (HHD), 67th Evacuation Hospital, 43rd Medical Group, 44th Medical Battalion, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. During 1970, the 44th Medical Brigade provided Field Army level medical services throughout the Republic of Vietnam. Young was assigned to the 67th Evacuation Hospital at Qui Nhon in Binh Dinh Province, RVN. At 1:45 PM on February 6, 1970, he was admitted to the 67th in serious condition for treatment of pneumonia. His illness failed to improve overnight, and his condition was downgraded to very seriously ill shortly before noon the following day. Despite the best efforts by medical staff at saving his life, Young expired early that same afternoon. An 18-year Army veteran, he was 39 years old. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
