NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER

It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters.

Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

Thank You, My Friend,

for being the kind of man who laid down his life for his friends; for it is written that "Greater Love hath no man, than he should lay down his life for his friends."

Volunteer...

for Corpsman,
for Vietnam,
for Med-Evac...

After all these years, you still stand solid and firm as friend, role model, patriot and hero.

May G*D bless The United States of America, and provide our nation with
those who have the character, devotion and courage to walk out the way of citizen, sailor/airman/soldier, and patriot.

Thanks for Stephanie. I value her friendship, Gary. Your daughter is very much like her dad...

It took 33 years

It took 33 years, but Hospitalman Gary Young was (posthumously) awarded the aircrew wings he earned in February, 1969.

The picture was taken at the reunion of his Marine Corps squadron HMM-364 (The Purple Foxes).

The young lady in the middle is Stephanie Hanson, the daughter of Hospitalman Young who has fought for over 3 years to have her father honored. To her right is the Deputy Commandant (Aviation) of the Marine Corps, LtGen Michael Hough and to her left is Colonel "Gene" Brady, the Commanding Officer of the Purple Foxes at the time of Hospitalman Young's shootdown.

Semper Fi, Doc.
