Jim - You will always be remembered.
Jim, I hope to see you again one day. I can then relate what you probably didn't remember. After you were hit with that fragmented RPG2 round which went through the right part of your chest, I somehow found myself holding on to you while you were desperately trying to catch your breath. I was with you and holding you when you took that last breath. We wrapped you in an OD Blanket and loaded you on a Chopper and that was the last I saw of my good friend and our Platoon clown. Things just weren't as funny after you left us. Being with you during your last minutes has extremely affected my life and is one of my most graphic images that I still retain from that war. I don't even retain any images of that firefight which was only one of many we were in during my year in Nam. We came together on the same plane on April 24, 1966 and I left again on April 24, 1967. You died December 15, 1966 and I'll probably remember that date forever. Hope to see you again soon.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC James Nelson Wymer, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
