I left a short remembrance but I forgot to put my name. I am the wife of James A. (Jimmy) Wright. Wanda Wright. I just want to say again Thank you for your sacrifice and service for me and for our country. After 46 years I still remember everything about you. Your beautiful brown eyes. A smile that lit up a room when you came in. Your sense of humor. Our love for each other. Your favorite color. Our favorite song. I would get so upset when you would sing distant drums to me. When I took you to the airport and watched you fly away never to return to me. My world was shattered when I got the telegram. You are never out of my mind or out of my heart. I love you as much today as the day we said I do. You are a true hero, my hero. I will see you soon in heaven my darling until then I love you forever and a day.

Thank you Jimmy for your sacrifice for me and for our country. I took you to the airport and watched you fly away never to return to me. When the dreaded telegram came my heart was broken. I loved you then with all my heart and now 46 years later I still love and miss you. You will never be forgotten, I have your pictures on my wall where I can look at them every day and your medals and flag in shadow boxes on the fireplace. You are my hero. Wait for me I will see you soon. I love you always and a day.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT James Ambler Wright, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Your Angel Day

My mere words of “thank you" cannot express the way I really feel about
your service to our country and the ultimate sacrifice that you made. But, I do most humbly thank you.

Although others might feel that the loss of your life was in vain and that the Vietnam War was a senseless war, I am one American who does not feel this way. I believe that what you did for our country was not in vain, but has and will always be an influence for good for us today and for countless generations to come.

Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing up for what was right and for paying the ultimate price.

In your honor today on your Angel Day I leave this short poem for you:

"There is not greater love than this.
There is not a greater gift that can ever be given.
To be willing to die, so another might live.
There is not greater love than this.”
~ Steven Curtis Chapman
