do not stand at my grave and weep......

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Thank You

Dear Sgt Paul Woolford, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman/Instructor. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday was Presidents' Day. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Memory of a friend

I knew Paul growing up in Streator Illinois and my family were good friends of the Woolford family, particularly his mother Anna. Although he was three years older, he often invited me to his house and we would do things with his family --- like him, they were generous and friendly, unassuming --- Happy days were those. Later it happened we were both in the service at the same time but different branches: I was in the Marines and he was in the Army, and nearly met when he was stationed at Fort Ord and I was at the Defense Language Institute a few miles south in Monterey. We both then went to Vietnam: I was wounded and he was killed. I am profoundly sorry for his loss, especially to his wonderful family, who I know this hurt so deeply. There is a beautiful memorial in the town park in Streator to the service members from the town lost in Vietnam and I always try to leave some flowers there to honor him, his service and sacrifice to this country, and his family.
