THE WALL OF FACES

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...

Dear PFC Alvy Wood, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, Happy Valentine's. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Graduated high school with Alvy many years ago but the older I get the more important his friendship and his sacrifice means. His loss never gets easy for his immediate family and friends but may he always know he is thought of and missed....thanks Alvy...Gods speed....

He was my best friend in first grade. I remember being sick the first week of first grade and when I went to school I was scared to death. The teacher introduced me to the class and there was my buddy Alvy smiling and waving to me. I will never forget that. As we grew up, we we used to play guns and war on the hill behind Northside School. We were so innocent then. Little did we know.
Alvy loved playing the drums and started his own Rock band called "The Woodsmen" when we were in high school. He loved his 1950? Ford. I last saw him the day he left for the Marines. He was always a soldier. It is my honor to have been his friend. Mike H
