Dear Uncle Bob,

I just wanted to let you know that I do think of you every know and then. Especially when I see by the Albany Vietnam Memorial on which your name is among the others from our hometown who served and died. I know that your sister (my mother) and your brother also still think of you often. Especially Bill who created a special case for your medals and ribbons which he gave to my mother. I have only one memory of you that I can call on to see you.
Although I was only about 6 I keep it stored away. You were home on a leave and I was just a young boy fascinated with you in your uniform. But you were only about 22, or so, yourself. We were at your parents home on Vic's Court and everyone was there to see you. Everyone so happy!!
I only just recently learned about this site. We will get your picture posted to it soon.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Robert J Winters, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
