Ground Casualty

PFC Scott T. Wimmer was an assault amphibious vehicle crewman serving with Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III MAF. On October 14, 1968, PFC Wimmer attempted to swim 20 meters across a rice paddy near Quang Tri Combat Base, Quang Tri Province, RVN, when he was caught by a fast-moving current. He panicked, was carried away, and drowned. His remains were recovered two days later. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
