Fighting Heart Award
Fighting Heart Award
In Honor of
Mike Wilson - Cpl Wayne Michael Wilson
United State Marine Corps – Vietnam Conflict
On May 30, 1969, our brother Wayne Michael “Mike” Wilson, lost his life in Vietnam. At the time of his funeral, our family requested that in lieu of flowers, people donate to a memorial fund to honor Mike. This memorial fund is called Fighting Heart Award. This award and small scholarship is given to the graduating Beaver High School student for his devotion and leadership to his football team.
For 45 years, this award has held strong. We (Mike’s brothers and sisters) were notified this year that there are no longer enough funds to keep the award active. We, of course, will be adding to the fund to try and keep it active. However, we were in hopes that others would want to contribute.
We have been told, by numerous people, that it is a great honor to the Beaver High School football player receiving this award. The young man receives a Fight Heart Plaque along with a small cash scholarship.
If you are interested in donating to the fund, please send your check to Fighting Heart Award, in care of Beaver High School, P.O. Box 790, Beaver, OK 73932.
Thank you in advance for helping us keep the memory of our big brother, Mike, alive.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Wayne Michael Wilson, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Happy Birthday Big Brother!
Today, October 1st, would have been my oldest brother Mike's 64th birthday. He has been gone from this earth 44 years years. Life has gone on without him walking this earth, but life was sure a much better place with him here. I was very young when he died, but he made an ever lasting impact on my life. I loved him so....he was and always be my hero. Happy Birthday Mike....you will always been in my heart!
