Remember to save for them a place inside of you, and save one backward glance when you are leaving, for the places they can no longer go...

Thank You

Dear Cap John Wilson, Thank you for your service as a Light Air Defense Artillery Unit Commander. I researched you on your 81st birthday, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Valentine's Day is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

A Night I'll Never Forget

We are coming up on exactly 50 years since that night. I was on guard duty in the 40th Sig Bn motor pool when the rockets began hitting all over Long Binh. I was probably lying under a Caterpillar a block away, at the moment your Dad gave his life for his country, Marlisa. I didn't know your Dad, but he has been an intimate part of my consciousness for the last 50 years, because during the course of that night I found myself at the exact location of his passing. It took me 40 years and the internet to figure out who he was....and now 50 years, that he has a son and a daughter. Assuming he did, you and your family have been in my prayers all these years. Even though I didn't know him, your Dad has had a profound effect on my life....I even took my wife well out of our way on a trip, about 10 years ago, to drive through Belen, just to see where he was from.

Sounds like he was a heck of a good guy. I know you are proud to be his daughter.

Remembering John

I remember John as a smart, kind and gentle person. He was in my small town high school in Belen, New Mexico. He was a couple of classes ahead of me but everyone knew he was a wonderful guy. I have been to the memorial and found his name with tears in my eyes. I am so sorry that his life ended so early as I know he would have contributed more to this world. Yes he did make the ultimate sacrifice and the whole country is grateful. Hoping our leaders will be mindful in trying to prevent sending our young men and women into harms way. John I think of you often.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear Captain John Stanton Wilson, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
